André Bon, a French composer, died on September 20, 2026, aged 80.
Born in Lille on August 17, 1946, he studied music and composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris before becoming a student of Olivier Messiaen. After graduating, he won the Prix de Rome and spent two years at the French Academy in Rome.
Over the course of his career, Bon composed more than 50 works, including several chamber operas, and served as professor of composition at the Argenteuil Conservatory. His work was also recognized with prizes including the Lili Boulanger Prize, the Hervé Dugardin Prize from SACEM, SACEM’s Composers Prize and the Monbinne Prize of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
