Born Anatoly Mikhailovich Kashpirovsky in Stavnytsia, he trained at Vinnytsia National Medical University and later built a career as a psychotherapist, gaining wide attention in the 1980s for televised hypnosis-style broadcasts and for work with the Soviet Olympic weightlifting team.
