Alex Fiorio, the Italian rally driver, died on August 17, 2026, aged 61, after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Born Alessandro Fiorio in Turin on March 10, 1965, he made his World Rally Championship debut in 1986 and went on to race the Lancia Delta Integrale for the Lancia B-team Jolly Club. Fiorio finished third in the drivers’ world championship in 1988 and second the following year.

He was the son of Cesare Fiorio, a former racer who led Lancia’s factory WRC team and later served as sporting director for Scuderia Ferrari.
