Agostino Superbo, an Italian Roman Catholic prelate who served as bishop of Sessa Aurunca and of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti and later as archbishop of Potenza–Muro Lucano–Marsico Nuovo, died on August 2, 2026, aged 86.
Born in Minervino Murge on February 7, 1940, he was ordained a priest in 1963 and went on to hold a series of church posts before becoming bishop of Sessa Aurunca from 1991 to 1994 and bishop of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti from 1994 to 1997. He later served as General Ecclesiastical Assistant of Italian Catholic Action from 1996 to 2001 and led the archdiocese of Potenza–Muro Lucano–Marsico Nuovo from 2001 until his retirement in 2015.
