Herzberg, a Canadian statistician and professor of mathematics and statistics at Queen’s University, died on June 2, 2026, at age 87. Born Agnes Margaret Herzberg in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1938, she studied as an undergraduate at Queen’s before completing her master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Saskatchewan.

She later worked at Imperial College London after taking an Overseas Fellowship in 1966, remaining there until 1988, when she returned to Queen’s. Herzberg served as president of the Statistical Society of Canada in 1991–92, becoming the organization’s first female president, and received its Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
