Tommy John, the American baseball player known for his long major league career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox, died on August 15, 2026, aged 83. Born Thomas Edward John Jr. in Terre Haute, Indiana, he became one of baseball’s most durable pitchers, spending 26 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1963 to 1989. Nicknamed the “Bionic Man,” John was a four-time All-Star and won 288 games, the second-highest total among pitchers since 1900 not in the Hall of Fame.
