Tito Benady, a Gibraltarian historian, died on May 19, 2026, at the age of 95.
Also known as Mesod Benady MBE, he was of Sephardic Jewish descent and specialised in the local and military history of Gibraltar. He was involved in local politics during the 1970s, contesting the 1976 election as an independent and the 1980 election as a candidate of the Party for the Autonomy of Gibraltar, led by Joseph Triay.
He supported rapprochement with Spain and was unsuccessful in both elections.
