Robert Daley dead at age 96, journalist, and New York City Police Department officer

Robert Daley, the American writer, journalist and New York City Police Department officer, died on May 26, 2026.

He was 96. Daley, born in New York City on May 10, 1930, graduated from Fordham University in 1951 and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He later worked as a journalist, including time on the foreign staff of The New York Times, and served as deputy commissioner of the New York City Police Department in the early 1970s. He was also the author of 31 books, as well as numerous magazine articles and stories.
