Richard Dimitri, an American actor and comedian known for When Things Were Rotten, Johnny Dangerously and The World’s Greatest Lover, died on December 18, 2025, at age 83.

Born in Yonkers, New York, he was best known for playing the twin characters Bertram and Renaldo in the 1975 Mel Brooks television show When Things Were Rotten and Roman Troy Moronie in the 1984 film Johnny Dangerously. Dimitri also appeared in the 1977 film The World’s Greatest Lover, the 1989 film Let It Ride, and on television in Hawaii Five-O, the miniseries Seventh Avenue and Tracey Takes On….

He was active as an actor from 1975 to 1999 and also worked as a writer and producer on television projects.

Richard Dimitri (June 27, 1942 – December 18, 2025) was an American character actor and comedian principally known for his roles as the twin characters of Bertram and Renaldo in the 1975 Mel Brooks television show When Things Were Rotten and Roman Troy Moronie in the 1984 film Johnny Dangerously.
