Richard Bell, an American football coach who served as head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks for one season in 1982, died on December 13, 2025.
Born Richard Murry Bell on September 2, 1937, in Camden, Arkansas, he played as an offensive lineman at the University of Arkansas, lining up at guard and end. At Arkansas, he played under head coaches Jack Mitchell and Frank Broyles.
Bell later coached at various high schools and colleges and worked for several Hall of Fame coaches.
