Peter Ferrara dead at age 71, American lawyer and policy analyst

Peter Ferrara, an American lawyer and policy analyst, died on May 5, 2026, at the age of 71.

He was also a columnist and served as an analyst for The Heartland Institute. Ferrara was formerly general counsel for the American Civil Rights Union.

A libertarian scholar, he was known for supporting privatization of Social Security and for his views on climate change. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, earned an economics degree from Harvard College in 1976, and received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1979.
