Born Nicolina Orsomando in Casapulla on January 11, 1929, she became known as a pioneer of Italian broadcasting and was later regarded as the dean of the country’s continuity announcers. Her career included work as an announcer, actor, television presenter and stage actor at RAI, and she first appeared on Italian television on October 22, 1953, during the experimental years of the medium, presenting a children’s program about the Encyclopædia Britannica.
She was born in the province of Naples and died in Rome.
