Nadhira Al Harthy, the Omani civil servant and mountaineer who became the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, died on July 30, 2026, aged 48.
Also known as Nadhira Alharthy, she was the second person from Oman to reach the top of Everest and went on to scale several other eight-thousanders, including Manaslu, K2 and Nanga Parbat. Her work also included service with Oman’s Ministry of Education, and she had previously taught geography before entering civil service.
