Mohamed Ali Hafez dead at age 88, Saudi Arabian scouting executive and journalist, co-founder of Arab News Network

Mohamed Ali Hafez, a Saudi Arabian scouting executive and journalist who co-founded Arab News Network, died on May 17, 2026, aged 88–89.

He served on the World Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1957 to 1963 and again from 1965 to 1971. In 1957, he became the first secretary-general of the Arab Scout Bureau.

In 1963, he was awarded the Bronze Wolf, the highest distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, for exceptional services to world Scouting.
