Michael Sefi dead at age 82, British philatelist

Michael Sefi, a British philatelist and former Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection, died on May 9, 2026, aged 82.

Born in London on December 11, 1943, Michael Richard Sefi was introduced to stamp collecting by his grandfather as a child and returned to the hobby in his early thirties. He specialized in the first postage stamps of George V’s reign.

Sefi worked as a chartered accountant until his partial retirement in 1983, later serving as a partner at Mann Judd, Touche Ross and Deloitte. He was Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection from January 1, 2003, until his retirement in September 2018.
