Michael Gray, an American actor known for playing Billy Batson in the 1970s television series Shazam!, died October 16, 2026, aged 75.
Born in Chicago on September 2, 1951, Gray began his acting career in 1972 and worked in television across several decades. In Shazam!, he portrayed Batson in the series that brought the comic-book character to television.
From 1972 to 1973, Gray played Ronnie Collins in the first season of the NBC sitcom The Brian Keith Show, starring Brian Keith and Shelley Fabares. The following year, he appeared in an episode of The Brady Bunch as Jeff, the boyfriend of Marcia Brady. His later television work included four episodes of the animated comedy Archer, in which he voiced a fictionalized version of himself in 2015 and 2019. The role gave him a self-referential part in a series distinct from the live-action programs that had featured him earlier in his career. Away from acting, Gray and his wife, Stacy Benon, owned a florist shop in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. The shop closed in the mid-2000s. His credits included a leading role in a superhero series, supporting and guest parts in sitcoms, and voice work in animation, reflecting a career that moved among different kinds of television production.
