Maxwell Gamble dead at age 87, Australian Olympic rower

Maxwell Gamble, an Australian Olympic rower, died on May 11, 2026, aged 87.

Born in Western Australia on 8 January 1939, he competed in the men’s eight event at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Gamble’s senior club rowing was with Edith Cowan University and later the Perth Rowing Club.

He also made his sole state representative selection for Western Australia in the 1960 senior eight, which contested and won the King’s Cup at the Australian Interstate Regatta.
