Marcia Lucas, the American film editor who won an Academy Award for her work on Star Wars, died on May 27, 2026.
She was 80. Born Marcia Lou Griffin in Modesto, California, on October 4, 1945, she began her career in 1968 and became one of the most noted editors of her generation.
Lucas helped shape films including American Graffiti and Taxi Driver, and was also credited on Return of the Jedi. She won the Oscar for Best Film Editing for Star Wars and also received a Saturn Award for Best Editing. She was married to George Lucas.
