Lamonte McLemore, an American singer, actor, composer and photographer who was a founding member of The 5th Dimension, died on February 3, 2026, at age 90.

Born Herman Lamonte McLemore in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 17, 1935, he was also known for his work as a photographer.

After graduating from Sumner High School, he joined the Navy and trained as a photographer. He later co-founded Halmont Graphics with Cliff Hall and worked as a photographer there beginning in 1958. McLemore was the first African American photographer hired by Harper’s Bazaar and photographed Stevie Wonder’s first album cover. He also worked for Jet and Ebony magazines for more than 40 years.

Herman Lamonte McLemore (September 17, 1935 – February 3, 2026) was an American vocalist, actor, composer and photographer. He was a founding member of The 5th Dimension, a popular vocal group of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
