Joshua Gil, an American restaurateur, died on June 22, 2026, at age 50.
Born in Riverside, California, and raised in Baja California, he built a career in Southern California kitchens and restaurants. In 2008, he worked as chef de cuisine at Joe’s Restaurant in Venice, where the restaurant earned a Michelin star.
Two years later, he co-founded the supper club Supper Liberation Front. He went on to open Tacos Punta Cabras in Santa Monica in 2013, a Mexican restaurant that Eater described as the best taco restaurant to open in Santa Monica’s Westside. The restaurant closed in 2017. In 2022, he opened Los Mírate in Los Feliz, Los Angeles.
