Jamshid Gharajedaghi, the IranianAmerican business theorist known for his work in systems thinking, managing complexity and business architecture, died on May 30, 2026.

He served as adjunct professor of Social System Sciences at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at Villanova University. Born in Tabriz, Iran, on February 13, 1938, he was the youngest of three children and came of age during the 1941 Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran and after his father’s sudden death.

He later attended Alborz High School in Tehran before earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1963.
