Born Jacqueline Chan in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on July 15, 1934, she was a Chinese-Trinidadian performer who became a principal dancer in the London West End production of The King and I. She later appeared in the London stage production of The World of Suzie Wong and played Gwennie in the film version.

Her other screen credits included Cleopatra and Krakatoa, East of Java.
