Jacek Ziober, the Polish football player, died October 6, 2026, aged 60.

Born in Łódź on November 18, 1965, he played as a forward and began his career in 1982, continuing until 1998. His playing career included spells with clubs in Poland, France and Spain, as well as service with the national team.

From 1989 to 1993, Ziober was a key player for Poland, whose failure to qualify for a major senior tournament during the 1990s meant he did not appear at one. His international career had already brought a notable result at youth level: a bronze medal with Poland at the 1984 UEFA European Under-18 Championship. In 1990, he was named Polish Footballer of the Year in the plebiscite organized by the football weekly Piłka Nożna. At Montpellier, Ziober played in the 1990–91 European Cup Winners’ Cup campaign, which ended in a quarter-final loss to Manchester United. He moved to Osasuna in 1993; after one season, the Spanish club was relegated to the Segunda División. In 1996, he returned to Poland to play for Amica Wronki.
