Glen Middlemiss, the Australian footballer who played for Geelong and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League, died on September 17, 2026, aged 70.
Known in full as Glen Russell Middlemiss, he began his senior football career at Geelong West in the Victorian Football Association before joining Geelong in 1979. A utility who was deployed mainly in defence and attack, he became part of Geelong’s 1980 season, making 19 appearances and featuring in two finals, including the club’s four-point preliminary final loss to Collingwood.
One of his most noted individual games came in round eight, when he kicked seven goals against St Kilda at Kardinia Park. Middlemiss was the son of Russell Middlemiss, who had been a Geelong premiership player in 1951 and 1952.
