Fredrick Brennan, an American software developer and founder of 8chan, died on January 10, 2026.
He was 31. Born Fredrick Robert Brennan in Albany, New York, on February 21, 1994, he also worked as a type designer.
Brennan founded the imageboard website 8chan in 2013 and later repudiated it in 2019. He moved to the Philippines after 8chan’s rise in popularity in 2014 and later cut ties with the site and with Jim Watkins, becoming an outspoken critic of both 8chan and Watkins.
