Enzo Bianchi, the Italian friar who founded the Bose Monastic Community, died on September 1, 2026, aged 83.
Born on March 3, 1943, in Castel Boglione, he went on to study economics at the University of Turin after earning a diploma in accountancy. In late 1965, he settled in an isolated farmhouse in Bose, in the hamlet of Magnano in the Province of Biella, and three years later helped form the monastic community that became his life’s work.
As its founder, he served as first prior from 1965 to 2017, shaping a community that admitted men and women, Catholics and Protestants.
