Born in Stuttgart on June 28, 1938, he began his career in rallying in the early 1960s with a Porsche 356 and won Rally Poland in 1963 driving a Mercedes-Benz 220SE. Glemser later became successful in circuit racing in the early 1970s for Ford, and he also made a one-off appearance in Australia, partnering Allan Moffat in the 1974 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 at Mount Panorama, where the Ford XB Falcon GT Hardtop was forced out after persistent mechanical trouble.
