Chung King-fai, a Hong Kong actor known for Black Mask, My Family and Welcome to the House, died on June 3, 2026, at age 89.
Born on March 23, 1937, in Thailand, he built a career across stage, television and film and was active from 1967 to 2018. He studied at Chung Chi College, the Yale School of Drama and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was credited with helping bring theatre of the absurd and Broadway musicals to Cantonese-speaking audiences in Hong Kong.
His work in theatre and screen performance made him a prominent figure in the city’s performing arts scene. He was also awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star.
