Choi Jungwha, a South Korean translator and interpreter, died on June 14, 2026, at the age of 70.
Born in Seoul on October 16, 1955, she was educated at Kyunggi Girls’ High School, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and the École supérieure d’interprètes et de traducteurs. She taught translation and interpreting studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies beginning in 1988, later founded the Corea Image Communication Institute in 2003 to promote South Korea‘s image, and served as its president.
She also worked as a translator for several South Korean presidents, including Chun Doo-hwan, Roh Tae-woo, Kim Young-sam, Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun.
