
Charles Mullins, an American physician and physician executive, died on December 4, 2025.
He was the Ashbel Smith Emeritus Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a cardiologist. Mullins served as director of clinical cardiology and the cardiac catheterization lab at Parkland Hospital.
He later became executive vice chancellor for health affairs at the University of Texas System and chief executive officer at Parkland. He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in 1954 and graduated from medical school at UT Southwestern Medical Center. After an internship in Colorado, he served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, completed a residency at Parkland Hospital and was a research fellow at the National Heart Institute in Bethesda.
