Carol Greitzer, an American politician and abortion activist, died on April 3, 2026, at age 101.
She served on the New York City Council from 1969 to 1991 and was the first president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. Born in Manhattan on January 3, 1925, she grew up in the north Bronx, attended Hunter College and earned a master’s degree in English literature from New York University.
She later lived in Greenwich Village. Greitzer was Jewish.
