Carlos Monforte, a Brazilian journalist who helped anchor TV Globo’s morning news programming, died on August 31, 2026, at age 77.
Born Carlos Américo Aguiar Monforte in Santos, he graduated in journalism from the Universidade Católica de Santos and began his career in the early 1970s at the local newspaper A Tribuna before moving to O Estado de S. Paulo.
He entered television in 1978 as a reporter for Globo in São Paulo, became anchor of Bom Dia São Paulo in 1981, and in 1983 was chosen as the first presenter of Bom Dia Brasil, then produced in Brasília, where he remained until 1992. He later worked as a special reporter for Jornal da Globo and, during a period away from the network, served in the communications department of the National Confederation of Industry.
