Brian Garvey, the English footballer who played as a defender in the Football League, died on April 8, 2026, aged 88.
Born in Kingston upon Hull, he joined his hometown club Hull City in 1957 and made more than 200 league appearances before moving to Watford in 1965, where he made just under 200 league appearances and helped the club win the Third Division championship in 1969. He later joined Colchester United in 1970 and was part of the side that won the Watney Cup in 1971.
After leaving Colchester in 1972, Garvey went on to play for non-league clubs, later coached at Wolves and Arsenal, and in the 1980s moved to Melbourne, where he managed Heidelberg United from 1984 to 1988.
