Bob Belden, an American football player who was a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, died on May 5, 2026, in Canton, Ohio, at age 78.
Belden was born in Canton on June 20, 1947, and played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He attended Central Catholic High School, where he was teammates with future Pro Football Hall of Famer Alan Page.
At Notre Dame, he was the third-string quarterback behind Terry Hanratty and Joe Theismann and suffered left medial collateral ligament injuries during spring practices in 1967 and again in 1968.
