Beppe Costa, the Italian writer, poet and publisher, died on June 10, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born in Catania on August 25, 1941, he came from a poor family but grew up surrounded by books, a background that shaped a literary career spanning poetry, fiction and publishing. His first poetry collection, Una poltrona comoda, appeared in 1970, and his work often returned to themes of love and nonconformity.
He also wrote guidebooks on Catania and Sicily, and in 1978 his meeting with the poet Dario Bellezza led to readings and book presentations across Italy.
