Known in full as Imy Josephine Cecile Lasten, she spent more than four decades helping shape theater in Aruba through performance, teaching and direction, with a particular focus on training young people and developing stage talent. She studied in the Netherlands and graduated cum laude from the Social Academy in Breda in 1976.
Lasten began her career in social and cultural work at Osticeba, the organization for stimulating neighborhood centers in Aruba, where she worked from 1977 to 1982.
