Born in Gazehio on January 1, 1945, he studied medicine and worked as a physician before entering government. He served as minister of health under President Félix Houphouët-Boigny from 1983 to 1989.
A member of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA), he later became campaign director for Henri Konan Bédié in the 2010 presidential election and, in 2013, was elected president of the regional council of Haut-Sassandra with the backing of the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace.
