Jack Crabtree public figure dead at age 90

Jack Crabtree, an American football player who was a quarterback for the Oregon Ducks, died on April 7, 2026, at the age of 90.

Crabtree played at Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California, before attending San Bernardino Junior College and the University of Oregon. He became the Ducks’ starting quarterback in his senior season in 1957 and helped lead Oregon to a tie for the Pacific Coast Conference championship.

The Ducks then earned a berth in the 1958 Rose Bowl against Ohio State, where Crabtree completed 10 of 17 passes for 135 yards and was named the game’s most valuable player despite Oregon’s loss. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos.
