
Thaddeus Mosley, an American sculptor known for working mostly in wood, died on March 6, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 99.
Thaddeus Gilmore Mosley was born on July 23, 1926, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the second youngest of five children and the only boy. He later settled in Pittsburgh, where he was based for much of his career.
After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy in the western Pacific and later attended the University with an ex-serviceman’s grant. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and as a freelance journalist and photographer in the 1950s.
