Sondra Gotlieb, a Canadian journalist and novelist, died on February 6, 2026.
Born Sondra Kaufman in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on December 30, 1936, she lived in Toronto, Ontario. She married Allan Gotlieb, who served as Canadian ambassador to the United States during the presidency of Ronald Reagan.
Her book Washington Rollercoaster recounted the couple’s years in Washington during the Reagan era, when she wrote a column for The Washington Post. Vanity Fair described her as a “sparkling hostess.”
