Michael Bambang Hartono, an Indonesian banker, electronics and cigarettes industry executive, and bridge player who founded Polytron and co-owned Djarum since 1963, died on March 19, 2026.

He was 86. Hartono was an Indonesian billionaire heir and businessman who, with his brother Robert Budi Hartono, inherited Djarum from their father, Oei Wie Gwan, in 1963.

Under their ownership, the business grew into a conglomerate with interests including Bank Central Asia, electronics, plantations and properties.

Michael Bambang Hartono (2 October 1939 – 19 March 2026) was an Indonesian billionaire heir and businessman.
