
Manuel Escudero, a Spanish economist and politician who served as deputy from 2003 to 2004 and as ambassador to the OECD from 2018 to 2024, died on March 23, 2026.
Born in San Sebastián on March 29, 1946, he studied business sciences at the Universidad de Deusto and earned a PhD from the London School of Economics. He was co-ordinator of the PSOE’s Programa 2000 from 1987 to 1991 and was professor of macroeconomics at IE Business School in Madrid from 1991 to 2005.
