He was 94. Born in January 1932 in San Francisco, California, Nosowsky was a medical doctor by training and later retired from a San Francisco urology practice.
Beginning in 1991, he created crossword puzzles that were published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and other newspapers. He became known for constructing puzzles with wide-open grids, often appearing later in the week for expert solvers.
