José Maria Ricciardi Portuguese banker dead at age 71

José Maria Ricciardi, a Portuguese banker, died on March 24, 2026.

He was a Portuguese economist and banker who earned a degree in Sciences Economiques Appliqués from the Institute of Business Administration of the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, graduating with honors. His final thesis was on “La Banque et la Prise de Décision d’Octroi de Crédits d’Investissement.” He spent much of his professional career in banking, joining Banco Inter-Atlântico, SA in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1970s, and later serving as financial controller at the European headquarters of the Espírito Santo Group from 1981 to 1983.

José Maria Espírito Santo Silva Ricciardi (27 October 1954 – 25 March 2026) was a Portuguese economist and banker.
