Jim Treacy, the Kilkenny and Bennettsbridge hurler, died on May 28, 2026, aged 82.
Born in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, in 1943, he joined the Kilkenny senior team in 1963 and developed into a key left corner-back over the following decade. Treacy won four All-Ireland medals, eight Leinster medals and a National Hurling League title, and he captained Kilkenny to the All-Ireland championship in 1967.
At club level, he was a five-time championship medallist with Bennettsbridge.
