Janusz Jasiński Polish historian dead at age 97

Janusz Jasiński, a Polish historian, died on March 24, 2026.

Born in Wołomin on September 4, 1928, he completed an undergraduate degree in history at the Catholic University of Lublin in 1954. He earned a PhD from the University of Warsaw in 1964 under the supervision of Stefan Kieniewicz, with a dissertation on agrarian reforms in Warmia at the turn of the 19th century.

He was habilitated in 1982 and later served as professor extraordinarius at the Historical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 1993 and professor ordinarius from 1996. Between 1969 and 1980, he edited Komunikaty Mazursko-Warmińskie.

Janusz Jasiński (4 September 1928 – 25 March 2026) was a Polish historian.
