
Hermann Huppen, the Belgian comic book creator known for Jeremiah, died on March 22, 2026, at the age of 87.
Better known by the pen name Hermann, he was born on July 17, 1938, in Bévercé, now part of Malmedy, in Liège Province. He made his debut as a comic book artist in 1964 in Spirou and later began working on Bernard Prince.
In 1977, he started writing his own stories with Jeremiah, his best-known post-apocalyptic series, which was adapted into a television series. He also created Nick and Les Tours de Bois-Maury.
