George Bork, an American Hall of Fame football player who starred for the Northern Illinois Huskies and later played for the Montreal Alouettes, died on May 28, 2026.
He was 84. Born in Mount Prospect, Illinois, on February 8, 1942, Bork played his early football at Arlington High School before joining Northern Illinois University, where he became one of the school’s most accomplished passers.
In 1962, he set 14 college passing records, and the following season he added 20 more marks, including the distinction of being the first college quarterback at any level to throw for 3,000 yards in a season. He entered the College Football Hall of Fame for his achievements.
