Frank McGuigan dead at age 70, public figure

Frank McGuigan, an Irish Gaelic footballer for Tyrone, died on May 24, 2026, aged 70.

He played for the Ardboe O’Donnovan Rossa club and the Tyrone county team, and was later described as one of the county’s football legends. His playing career was cut short after a car crash broke his leg, but he remained noted for his scoring ability during his senior career.

McGuigan, who was born in County Tyrone on November 20, 1955, also worked as a builder. His son Brian later played for Tyrone.
