Fernando Scarpa, an Italian footballer best known for his time with Potenza, died on July 12, 2026, at the age of 79.

Also known as Nando, he was born in Lecce on July 6, 1947, and played as either a midfielder or a forward. Scarpa made his senior debut in Serie D with Galatina in 1965, moved up to Serie C with Sambenedettese the following year, and later represented Casertana.

In 1968 he joined Potenza, where he scored 16 goals across three seasons before being signed in 1971 by newly promoted Sorrento, with whom he went on to play in Serie B.
